Dear Students, Parents, Teachers & Friends of Education,

Junior Olympic Track and Field

Soon to be 2nd grader at Kennedy Elementary, T'yonn Newton, a 7 year old athlete competing under the direction of Atomic Agility Track Club here in Winder, GA is preparing for the 2016 Junior Olympic Games hosted by the USA Track and Field (USATF) National Track and Field Association. The Junior Olympics are being held at Sacramento State University located in California, July 25 - July 31, 2016. T'yonn has shown great determination and sportsmanship while competing this season and her hard work paid off leading her to rank top ten in the state of Georgia and the southeast Region. T'yonn's accomplishments this season left her with the number one ranking for long jump scoring 10 feet 4.5 inches, number 5 in the 100 meter sprint with a time of 16:40, and number 10 in her 200 meter sprint with a time of 35:86 in the State.

The USATF Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships is the most visible youth athletic development program in the world since the mid-1960's. Many of today's Olympic stars began their track and field careers competing in the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. Nearly 70,000 youth athletes compete each year in the Junior Olympic Track & Field and Cross Country programs and many of America's Olympians began as youth athletes.
