Message from the Student Services Team

Eagan summer Welcome Incoming graduate students! As part of the biggest starting cohort in the Graduate School, you are already making history in the College of Engineering!

A warm welcome back to all our returning students! We hope you had a wonderful summer and look forward to working with you in the Fall.

Below you will find some information on course registration and the Student Services team to help you get you ready for the 2014 Fall term.

As always, we are here to help, never hesitate to reach out! We are holding extended office hours in 130 Snell from 10am-4pm every weekday through September 16, 2014.

Visit our website, email us your questions or make an appointment using our Online Scheduling system via your MyNEU account. Include your NUID and relevant course information (course number and CRN) in all your communication. This will help us process your request.

The wonderful Kat Kniceley will welcome you when you arrive in 130 Snell and make sure that your request is routed to the appropriate person if she cannot answer your questions. She is a great resources and will be able to answer many of your inquiries!

A friendly reminder that the University and our office will always use your husky email address to contact you. If you do not monitor your husky email address regularly, we recommend you set up forwarding to an email account you do check on a regular basis.

Registration refresher

Course registration takes place online via your MyNEU account. Program planning and class choices should be discussed with and approved by your academic advisor. We encourage you to be in regular contact with your advisor particularly at the beginning of each term. Building a relationship with your advisor early on will help ensure you stay on track in your program and help your advisor mentor and advise you.

Below are further resources to help you complete the registration process. Please be sure to provide all relevant information to ensure timely processing by our office. Please allow 3-5 business days to review registration requests. We encourage you to use the fillable PDF forms available on our website which accept electronic signatures.

Override Registration Request Form

Use this form for all registration errors you encounter. Please collect all required signatures before returning the form to the GSE office in 130 Snell. Complete instructions are available on page 2 of the form. ECE students should submit their forms to Faith Crisley via email.

Videostreaming course sections

(V35 sections) are limited to part-time students. Full-time student may request a videostreaming course section only if no on-ground section is offered.

Note that international students must be registered for a minimum of one on-ground course to maintain their visa status.

Online courses (VTL) are open to all students. Note that international students must be registered for a minimum of one on-ground course (4SH) to maintain their visa status.

D'Amor-McKim School of Business courses are now open for registration. Note that online classes are not opened to non-MBA students and prerequisites will not be lifted. ContactGail Justino-Miller with any questions.

Petition Forms

Petition forms are used for a variety of reasons such as requesting to take a course outside the approved curriculum of your program, or requesting a core course waiver. Fill out all appropriate fields and collect the needed signatures, including your own, before submitting the petition to the front desk of 130 Snell. ECE students should submit their forms to Faith Crisley via email.

Stay safe

Safety Escort Service - University Police provides an overnight escort shuttle service to student residences within 1.5 miles of campus. In response to an increase use of this service, effective immediately, the first shuttle will leave at 7PM followed by another at 8PM. From 8PM - 4AM there will be shuttle runs at the :00 and :30 mark of each hour. After 4AM the shuttle will then run hourly until dawn (about 7AM). Shuttles leave from Snell Library. Important dates:

9/1/14: Labor Day. GSE offices closed
9/3/14: First day of Fall 2014 term
9/16/14: Last day to add a class online
9/23/14: Last day to drop a course with a W grade
10/13/14: Columbus Day. GSE offices closed

Log onto MyNEU Account
Go to Self-Service Tab
Click Appointment Calendar under Advising Resources
Under Find a Calendar, select College of Engineering for Group and Graduate School Advising for Affiliation
Select name of advisor you wish to meet with to view their calendar
Click Request an Appointment on the time slot you wish to meet them.
