Join us for the lighting of the

Storytelling Portraits of Chinatown's Seniors window boxes in storefronts of the Mendonca Building and to celebrate the Chinatown Art Corps program of The ARTS at Marks Garage! We will begin with a ceremony in the courtyard of the Chinatown Artist Lofts at 5:30pm, followed by a tour of the installation and lighting of the microgalleries. Light refreshments and treats will be provided for toasting the participants and supporters. This ceremony coincides with the First Friday Red Lantern (Kukui 'Ula) event.

Honolulu Improvisers Network Mash-Up

V-Day Honolulu 2014 is a local effort within the worldwide V-Day Campaign to end domestic violence. The Vagina Monologues production dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage, and excitement buried in women's experiences. Performances are part of the Honolulu V-Day Campaign to raise awareness and funds to end violence against women and girls on Oahu. Proceeds benefit the Sex Abuse Treatment Center. Local directors of the production are Tony Pisculli, Eleanor Svaton, and Jonathan Reyn.

First-time playwright, Lola Love has teamed up with choreographer La Femme Rikita, Maui's black light burlesque beauties - The UltraViolets, Aisis Chen of Hawai'i Women in Filmmaking and HI Capacity to create a black light theatrical production - combining burlesque, dance, aerial and new media art. The cast includes Lola Love, Madame X, Tita Titsling, Mabsy, Hunter Down & Opal Rouge and many more of Honolulu's handpicked performers who will help guide you through the ABC's of sex.

The show features custom costuming by Rose Wolfe and Carlyn Wolfe (Manoa Valley Theater), props and accessories using 3D printing (HI Capacity) and visual images created by Aisis Chen. A blend of visual art, movement and theatrics, Neon Dreams is guaranteed to take you out of this world.

ANIMATION: JUNE 24 - 28 | 8:30 -4:00 pm

Learn the principles and techniques of animation using industry-standard camera, editing software, and more.

BASIC REEL: JULY 22 - 26 | 8:30 -4:00 pm

Learn storytelling, storyboarding, scriptwriting, use of professional camera, lighting, audio, and editing. You will be working in small production teams with a mentor and produce a short video.

Improvaganza: Hawaii Festival of Improv is now accepting submission applications for its 2014 improv festival which will happen Thursday September 25 through Sunday September 28. This year's festival will take place in the Heart of the Honolulu's Historical Chinatown Arts District at The ARTS at Marks Garage and at Kumu Kahua Theatre. Now in it's 9th year, Improvaganza has earned a reputition for its innovation, hospitality, and aloha. Once again Improvaganza invites improvisers from all over the world to be a part of this year's festival.This year's Festival theme is Kaiju "Giant Monster." So this year we are looking for improv acts that are Godzilla sized and ready to demolish the Honoulu Skyline.
