Greetings!

Summer's over and kids are back in school; time to officially launch my newest non-fiction book! It's about the immigrants who came to Wisconsin in search of a new home, and features gorgeous photographs taken at Old World Wisconsin.

Well known writer Jerry Apps wrote this about A Settler's Year: Pioneer Life Through The Seasons:

"This is a book with great meaning for those of us who grew up on farms, and a book to be shared with young people eager to know more about pioneer life."

This week I'll be doing launch programs about A Settler's Year in Madison, Waukesha, and at Old World Wisconsin. I would love to see you at any one of them!

Thursday the 17th - Madison WI

The first takes place at one of my favorite indie bookstores: Mystery to Me.

There I will be interviewed by Doug Moe, long-time columnist for the Capitol Times and the Wisconsin State Journal, and the author of numerous books.

I'll also take questions from readers and sign books. This event runs from 7-8 PM and is free and open to the public. Door prizes and light refreshments will be provided.
Friday the 18th - Waukesha WI

The next event takes place at the Waukesha Public Library as part of the Wisconsin History Tour.

I will present an illustrated program about the book, and answer questions from the audience.

Afterwards I'll sign copies, which will be available for purchase at the event thanks to Martha Merrell's, Waukesha's independent bookstore.

This program runs from Noon to 1 PM and is free and open to the public.

Sunday the 20th - Eagle WI

Join photographer Loyd Heath and I for a talk about how we created the stories and images. Afterwards we'll answer questions and sign copies.

Note: This is the only launch event that Loyd (who lives on the West Coast) will attend.

This event begins at 3 PM and is free and open to
the public. For the very best experience of the pioneer life described in the book, come early and tour the village and farms of Old World Wisconsin (admission required).

  Looking Ahead

I'd love to see you at any of my fall events (including those for my soon-to-be released sixth Chloe Ellefson mystery). Nothing is better than meeting readers in person!

Warm regards,
