I'm writing to let you know that American Girl has jus t announced that Caroline Abbott, the 1812 character they asked me to create and write 9 books about, is going to be "archived."
While a date for her farewell has not been made public yet, the company is urging fans to complete their Caroline collections "soon."
The following Caroline books of mine are still available.
As you may imagine, I'm sad and disappointed with the decision to retire Caroline. I'm also very grateful for all the amazing and wonderful memories Caroline has brought me.
Best of all has been the opportunities to meet hundreds of lovely girls who are smart, kind, and excited about reading, writing, and history. They have brought me great joy. I still have some Caroline events on my Calendar, including my final visit to her hometown, Sackets Harbor, NY, in July.
When AG releases more Caroline-related details, I'll be sure to share them with you. And while I'm not currently working on a project for young readers, I do have two adult books coming out this fall and am busy writing another for 2016. To all the Caroline fans I've met, or have contacted me, sponsored my Caroline programs, or bought and read my books about her, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Warm regards,
