After a long cold winter, and just the briefest taste of spring, summer has finally arrived here in Wisconsin. Warm weather, lush greenery, and the return of migrating birds means that it's now the summer reading season! Speaking of which...

Books, Books, Books
Cover of the Chloe Ellefson mystery Tradition of Deceit by Kathleen Ernst from Midnight Ink The fifth novel in my award-winning Chloe Ellefson traditional mystery series is currently at the publisher, being edited in preparation for its release this fall.

Tradition of Deceit is set in Milwaukee and Minneapolis, where past and present events create physical and emotional distance between Chloe and Roelke, challenging their growing trust in each other -- and putting their lives at risk.

The action jumps back and forth between February 1983, the latter half of the 1800's, and the early 1900's. Polish pierogi and wycinanki, runaways, Vietnam vets, the power of flour, and the final episode of M*A*S*H all figure into the story.

Mystery author GM Malliet calls it "a page turner with a clever surprise ending." Mr. Ernst says it's my best ever.

Tradition comes out as a trade paperback on November 8th. Copies for popular e-book readers will arrive soon thereafter. Be one of the first to read the book by pre-ordering it now.

And for my American Girl fans...

My eighth Caroline book,
Catch the Wind: My Journey With Caroline, is almost here, and it is something new and very special.

When you read an historical novel, do you wish you could actually go back in time to see what the world was really like? In my new book a modern girl does exactly that, and accompanies Caroline on exciting adventures.

Catch the Wind will be released in print on August 28th. Copies for popular e-book readers will arrive soon thereafter. Printed copies can be pre-ordered now.

Did you know? American Girl is re-issuing and re-branding the initial six Caroline books as a two volume set. Volume I, Captain of the Ship has the stories from the first three books: Meet Caroline, Caroline's Secret Message, and A Surprise for Caroline. Volume II, Facing the Enemy, includes the stories from Caroline Takes a Chance, Caroline's Battle, and Changes for Caroline. The two volumes also come out August 28th

I often give away door prizes at my public programs, and one of the most popular gifts is a Chloe Ellefson tote bag featuring original artwork by Tom Redman. Many times I've been asked where these attractive, practical, canvas bags can be bought. I haven't had an answer, until now.
