Please forgive me for taking so long to write you about last weekend's Caroline Abbott American Girl Fans programs! I'm just home from the trip.

It was very special to be back in Caroline's home town. The Sackets Harbor Battlefield Historic Site hosted three elegant tea parties. Guests enjoyed delicious refreshments and lovely period music. Each girl received a Caroline craft project, and six lucky girls won  free Caroline Abbott dolls, courtesy of the American Girl company.

I talked about how I created Caroline in my imagination, and discussed researching and writing her stories. The girls asked some great questions.

Afterwards I spoke one-on-one and posed for photos with the girls, and signed books. Over 350 people attended the teas, which were sold out in advance.  They came from at least 18 different states (CA, FL, IA, IL, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, and WA)!

It was such fun to talk with so many excited young readers, including some who love to write as well. Their enthusiasm for Caroline was a joy!

My thanks to the Constance B. Barone, Site Manager of the Sackets Harbor Battlefield Historic Site, and to her staff, volunteers, and caterer. Their hard work made these teas a huge success.
Thanks also to the adults who brought daughters, granddaughters, and young neighbors.  I hope you created special memories during your visit!

Most of all, my heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful girls who came.

I wrote Caroline's stories for you.

Warm regards,
