Inspiring Granddaughter

Barbara is the first to raise her hand to volunteer. Her calling to help others inspired her teenage Girl Scout granddaughter to donate iPads to Alexian Village residents and to teach them how to view photos, snap selfies and FaceTime. Read more.

At age 96, Betty attends most Joliet Central High School basketball games and cheers for the same school she graduated from in 1937.

Joanne Wilson, Victory Centre of Galewood  
Joanne's catering company, "Dinner with the Family," made it easier for families to gather and socialize from 1994 to 2007. She's still happiest when she is in the kitchen baking and teaching others how to bake.
 
Always Helping    
Ada Johnson, Victory Centre of Galewood
Ada empowered adults and children with disabilities while working for the Ray Graham Association. Today she continues to empower people with computer lessons and kindness.
 
   Career in Publishing
Barbara Storey, Victory Centre of South Chicago
Barbara worked for Johnson Publishing Company, publisher of Ebony and JET magazines, and was recognized by her boss and founder Johnson H. Johnson at her retirement in 2000 for her successful 20-year career.
 
Faith-inspired Artist 
Shirley Peska, Victory Centre of Bartlett
A lifelong artist, Shirley uses her talent to enrich her Christian faith and was once awarded by the Presbytery of Chicago for banners and other artwork she created for her church.

Helen Genunzio, Age Well Centre for Life Enrichment
With the men overseas, Helen created blue prints for a new Bell Telephone system--some of it "top secret" work she was told!
