As Americans prepare for Thanksgiving
Day, Pathway Senior Living residents
and staff are counting their blessings.
They are thankful for so much, including:
Brave Veterans
Men and women who served in the U.S. military to defend and preserve our freedom deserve our thanks. We proudly recognized the many veterans who call Pathway Senior Living communities home on Veterans Day and are honored to serve them every day of the year in between. See photos.
Swinging Teenagers
Members of the Elmwood Park High School Boys Golf Team took time away from the course to visit Victory Centre of Galewood and share a few golf tips with residents, who enjoyed time with the friendly teens as much as putting practice! See photos.
Loving Team Members
Bathed in color and tradition, Alexian Village team members of Indian decent celebrated Holi, known as the festival of colors or the festival of love, with residents. They shared everything from authentic Indian food and music to silk saris and face painting, bringing a bit of carefree fun to the lives of residents while honoring their rich culture. See photos.
Gentle Horses
Pathway's annual extreme VIVA! Horseback Riding adventure gives seniors "free reign" to enjoy doing an activity that they thought was no longer possible. First-time rider Babs Miller, age 69, of Alexian Village didn't think she'd be able to ride. Thanks to a special lift and two friendly guides, Babs and her horse Pudd'n rode off into the sunshine. See photos.
Wishes that Come True
Lifelong farmer Grace Heinrich, age 92, wished to ride a John Deere tractor once more. She got her wish thanks to Victory Centre of Bartlett's team and the kindness of a Lisle farmer. Her daughters cried tears of joy at the sight of their mom back in the driver's seat. Fox's Good Day Chicago featured Grace's story! Watch here.
