Giddy Up!
Over 40 Pathway residents saddled up for an unforgettable horseback riding adventure at The Hanson Center Barn in Burr Ridge. The seniors were thrilled to experience the joy and benefits of adaptive horseback riding and participate in an "extreme" activity that most thought was no longer possible. See more photos.
"I love riding! This place is a hidden treasure," said John Sullivan, age 81, of Alexian Village.

Adopt a Shelter Dog Month
Pathway senior living's See Spot Retire program gives older dogs new, forever homes with seniors at their communities. In these win-win adoptions, each dog gets a new lease on life and the senior residents get to experience the benefits of pet ownership.
"Pets and seniors have a lot of unconditional love to give each other," said Lynn Bunnell, Pathway's Regional Community Life Manger, who helps coordinate the doggie adoptions, like Saaya (above) at Alexian Village.

Furry Friends
If you want to reduce stress, cuddle a snake! Animal-assisted therapy uses living creatures of all sorts to help alleviate stress and boredom and to feel happier. During animal visits, Pathway seniors like to hold, talk to and cuddle their newfound (mostly) furry and sometimes scaley friends.
