Time Spent Outdoors is Time Well Spent!
Since childhood, we've heard adults cry, "Go outside and get fresh air!" This is great advice, but the truth is adults spend less time outside than children. Venturing out of the house at any age is a good idea. Click here to learn the five potential benefits of spending more time outside according to the Harvard Health Letter.

Checkin' Out
da Bears!

A group of Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge seniors visited the Chicago Bears Training Camp in Bourbonnais for an experience they'll never forget. They had an up close and personal view of the team practicing for the 2014/15 season at Olivet Nazarene University. And as an added bonus, they got to take a picture with Staley Da Bear, the official team mascot!

Up, Up and Away!
Marion Bruska, age 102, of Victory Centre of Galewood, checked flying in a hot air balloon off of her bucket list this July. The thrill-seeking Marion made history as the oldest rider to ever go up in the handicapped accessible balloon, "Serena's Song." Eight other Pathway residents joined Marion for a hot air balloon ride at Lisle's Eyes to the Skies festival. This is the third year Pathway has organized the trip. Read more.

Movie Night

Kids and grown-ups alike enjoyed the American cult classic movie, "Goonies," at Oak Hill Supportive Living's outdoor movie night. Sitting on lawn chairs and blankets, Oak Hill residents and Round Lake Beach neighbors munched on free popcorn and enjoyed complimentary frozen treats fresh off of the ice-cream truck! Watch video.

Golfers on Par for Fun!
"Of all the hazards, fear is the worst," pro-golfer Sam Snead said. Luckily, our seniors weren't afraid to put their golf skills to the test! Some Victory Centre of River Oaks residents hit the links at Burnham Woods Golf Course. The golf-pro gave them tips on their swings before they headed off to the greens to practice. See photos.

The Block is a Rockin'
Celebrating its 5th Anniversary, Victory Centre of South Chicago hosted an old-fashioned block party for residents and neighbors. They enjoyed freshly grilled food, dancing in the streets, a jumpy, face painting, dunk tank, a fire truck and ambulance visit and more. See photos.

 VIVA! Blooms Inspire Party
Pathway's VIVA! lifestyle takes an innovative approach to resident wellness that celebrates living a healthy, happy and fulfilled life. So when a Pathway employee saw a collection of extraordinary flowers at the Home Depot also called "VIVA," she had the idea to host a VIVA! Plant Party! Victory Centre of Galewood residents and staff made paintings of VIVA flowers. Their artwork was then entered into a contest and auctioned off to the highest bidder. Resident Nola Jean Ward's painting took first place, earning her a gift card and VIVA flower of her own.
