To help spread the good word about Supportive Living, some Pathway residents travelled to the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield. They met and spoke with Governor Pat Quinn and other legislators about why "It's a Wonderful Life" living at a Pathway Supportive Living community. See photos! |
Congratulations to the "Galewood Scholars" trivia team from Victory Centre of Galewood for taking first place in the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition (AALC) Regional Trivia contest. They outsmarted dozens of other teams and, along with second place winners "Trivia Village" from Alexian Village, will advance to the state finals in Decatur in May. For the championship, the top 12 teams will answer questions from "The Ultimate Trivial Pursuit Question & Answer Book."

"It's a Wonderful Life" is this year's Supportive Living Week (April 21-25) theme. In this month's issue, you'll meet many residents who are living wonderful lives at Pathway Senior Living communities. They'll make you smile and, hopefully, feel wonderful yourself!
Happiness is...
As a part of Pharrell Williams "24 Hours of Happy," Pathway residents and team members spent the International Day of Happiness showing their joy.
"We had a blast filming the Happiness video," said Karen Leimberer, Director of Life Enrichment. "It truly demonstrates Pathway's mission of changing the way society thinks about aging and senior living!"
Keys to Happier Living
Backed by scientific research and leading experts, "Action of Happiness," a movement that is committed to building a happier society, has found the key to happiness! More precisely, they determined the "TEN Keys to Happier Living!"
We at Pathway Senior Living find the Ten Keys not only inspirational but in perfect harmony with our commitment to influencing our residents' overall happiness and well worth sharing. Unlock the secret to happiness. Read more.
Celebrating Brightly
With brightly colored faces and henna tattooed hands, seniors at Alexian Village partook in India's annual Hindu celebration called Holi, which marks the end of winter and honors the triumph of good over evil.
"It's a playful celebration, and the colors remind us that beneath the surface we're all the same," says Community Life Manager Andi Rothenberg.

Making a Wonderful Move
In 2007, Idella Freeman moved from North Carolina to Victory Centre of Roseland, where she enjoys a wonderful life today. Looking back, Idella says, "I have to admit, I was nervous about the move, but after seeing our apartment I felt right at home."
"I remember how much I enjoyed gardening and cooking back in North Carolina and was elated when I found out that I could enjoy those same experiences here," Idella says. "Now I look forward to sharing my gardening skills with the other residents, and I have also joined the cooking club." Her favorite dishes include banana pudding and cabbage, but not eaten together!

Wii Win!

The 5th Annual Wii Bowling Tournament has officially wrapped up the regular season with two Pathway teams making it to the playoffs.
Congratulations to the "Bartlett Bowlers" from Victory Centre of Bartlett and the "Timberlake Crew" from Timberlake Supportive Living. Hopefully they will rack up enough points to make it to the Final Four teams and compete in the Supportive Living championship in Decatur in May.
