Our BIG!Gives Back July sponsored project is "Paths to Pier 42" - a temporary/ pop-up park which serves as both a functional and artistic space for the Lower East Side neighborhood. Paths to Pier 42 is a series of art installations and public events along the East River. The project's purpose is to create a temporary waterfront park to increase access to, and create public uses for, Pier 42 while it awaits permanent transformation into a new public park in upcoming years.

The Art Park and Garden at Pier 42 in NYC is part of the "people's plan" to revitalize the former port and develop it into community space. While waiting for the permanent park, a small collective of artists and a community coalition have joined forces to temporarily reclaim the space. Situated on the East River, visitors can enjoy thought-provoking sculptures, shade from young trees, a lazy breeze, performances on temporary stages, and awesome views of slow-moving boats chugging along the waterway - almost all of these pieces were constructed with retired scaffolding lumber donated by
