Check Out These Awesome Projects Made with Materials Found at Build It Green!NYC:

City dweller Liberty Howell found the perfect pencil legged pedestal sink at BIG!NYC Gowanus, it just needed a little TLC (see before photo below).
After re-glazing the sink, her bathroom now features beautiful and charming fixtures from historic NYC buildings (via the Landmarks Preservation Commission). See the finished sink in it's gleaming glory on the right!

Solar One's Workforce Lab was in need of various materials, so they dug around BIG!NYC in Astoria and picked up a box of bamboo planks and some 2x6 posts. Once their project was complete, they pieced together the scraps and built this beautiful table for their lounge.

Grant Davis Thompson Inc. (GDT) strives to build something that will last, often sourcing old hardware, light fixtures, sinks, etc. for their interior design projects. GDT believes that many reclaimed items have lasted 100 years for a reason - they were made well.

GDT recently completed a home renovation for a client who shared their passion for designing with minimal impact on the environment. "We love to re-use materials and fixtures from all over the Northeast and this idea resonated well with our client," said Palmer Thompson-Moss of GDT. The doors used in this project were either in the existing space or found at BIG!NYC. Palmer continued, "We used second-hand furniture and lighting, even all the towel bars and hooks are salvaged." With a limited budget, GDT went looking for high-quality fixtures that wouldn't break the bank. In almost all instances, the chosen items were salvaged rather than purchased new.  Learn more on their website: grantdavisthompson.com
