Renovating Your Kitchen?
Don't Dump Those Cabinets! Donate Them!
It's easy! Before you start renovating, contact BIG!NYC and see if our Deconstruction Team can help you carefully disassemble your old kitchen cabinets and appliances. Just email photos of the cabinets, plumbing fixtures and/or appliances that you'd like to get rid of to decon@bignyc.org.
We'll set up a site visit and then schedule the decon. BIG!NYC's fully insured decon team will carefully remove the items, take them to our reuse centers, and give you a tax receipt for your donation. And then you are free to continue with your remodeling project, without worrying about disposing of your old cabinets, appliances, fixtures, etc!
Learn more about how Deconstruction can work for you from This Old House, featuring our friends at Eco Building Bargains in Mass.

Come On and Get Your Hands Dirty with BIG!NYC's Compost Project!
Sunday, October 14th, 10 am to 4 pm @ Queens Plaza South and 10th Street
Ever wonder what happens to the food scraps collected at Greenmarkets? Join BIG!NYC to see what we do with 8,000 lbs. of food scraps, collected from four Brooklyn Greenmarkets. We will mix the scraps with browns, such as wood chips and dead leaves, and will then build a long pile called a windrow. To RSVP to this family friendly activity, email louise@bignyc.org .
Help our Compost Team collect food scraps at the MillionTreesNYC Fall Planting on Saturday, October 27th
Join us to collect food scraps at MillionTreesNYC's Fall Planting. Event scraps will be composted by Build It Green!NYC, an organization that accepts and processes food scraps as part of the NYC Compost Project Local Organics Recovery Program of the NYC Department of Sanitation. All food scraps are composted in Queens and the finished compost is used for local greening projects and street tree care! See bit.ly/nycLORP for more info.
Street Tree Care, Monday, November 5th, 4-6 pm @ 21-45 31Street
Join us to care for our street trees with locally produced compost. We'll be joined by MillionTreesNYC's TreeLC Truck. To sign up for this event, please email compost@bignyc.org.
