Economic Security: Minimum Wage

  

Update: Committee votes 4-2 to ITL HB 1403. Bill awaits full Senate Vote.  

  

Background: 

 

Last raised in 2008, an increase in the state's minimum wage would benefit approximately 12% of NH's workforce and 21,000 children. HB 1403 would increase the state's minimum wage to $9.00 an hour. 

 

What You Can Do:   

 

1. Partners are strongly encouraged to reach out to their Senators to support this important legislation and attempt to overturn the ITL recommendation. Contact information can be found here.

Key Priority-Based Events in May 

Children's Mental Health Awareness Day: May 8


Background: 

 

NAMI NH has partnered with other New Hampshire child and family serving agencies and advocacy groups to host a series of "Children's Mental Health Matters" awareness events during the week of May 5-10, 2014.

 

This year's main event will be the "Legislative Briefing: 1st Year Progress Report on the NH Children's Behavioral Health Plan,"  held at the Legislative Office Building Rooms 205 and 207 on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from noon to 1:00 pm.
 
Important Date: May 8, 2014 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. 

 

What You Can Do:   

 

1. Wear a green ribbon at the event to support the importance of children's mental health!

NH Afterschool Network's Mayoral Summit: May 13 

  

Background:

 

The New Hampshire Afterschool Network was selected by the National League of Cities to host a statewide Mayoral Summit for Afterschool and Expanded Learning. 

 

City and town leadership are encouraged to convene a team from their community composed of  business, afterschool program, and school district representatives to learn about the importance of afterschool and summer programming for your communities. 

 

Important Dates: 

 

May 6: Final Registration! 
May 13:  Summit held 8:00 am - 1:00 pm; Grappone Center, Concord.
