JANE VANDERZANDEN
The common thread running through this featured show of acrylic paintings and black and white scratchboards is the play of light. Jane captures the bright sunlight skimming across a group of horses; the soft glowing light of the evening sun on pheasants; and the positive and negative light creating shapes and form in her scratchboard drawings. The lighting along with Jane's attention to detail give her artwork an often described "three dimensional" quality.
Jane combines her two interests of nature and art into wildlife and western acrylic paintings and scratchboard drawings. The details represent many transparent layers of color, small brush strokes or fine scratchboard lines. Her inspiration comes from her first-hand observations while hiking and trail riding through the wilderness. She shows her artwork throughout the Northwest.

| | Last Light, Southern Oregon Coast, Gayle Pedemonte | |
Gayle Pedemonte's oil paintings are most influenced by color and light, and how they change and surprise in the landscape. She believes that light elevates some of the simplest scenes by bringing out the color and contrasting shapes. Gayle says her artistic expression is not limited to painting; she also designed her beautiful garden. When the weather allows, she can be found working in her garden; when it doesn't, she can be found painting in her studio.
Gail has been painting with oils for about 10 years, and is primarily self-taught. She credits a variety of classes and workshops for helping her learn the technical aspects, and self-expression and practice to evolve her painting style. She enjoys the artist community at Sequoia Gallery which she has been a member of for several years. She looks forward to soon establishing her painting studio at Sequoia. In addition to landscapes she enjoys painting commissions for people.
