What's Happening at Sequoia
Hip to Be Square Show
April 7 - May 1
First Tuesday Reception, April 7, 5 pm - 8 pm

Please join us for the April opening of our annual Hip to be Square show. While enjoying the creativity unleashed on a 12"x 12" square format, have a glass of wine and visit our 13 studio artists at work.

Also, check out our articles on Spring Art Classes below.
Hip to be square show

Every spring, we open our gallery to member and non-member artists of all levels of experience for our annual community exhibition, Hip to Be Square. Anyone, from the beginning artist to the seasoned professional, has the opportunity to unleash their creativity on a 12"x 12" canvas or wood panel. The only requirement is that the art work fit within the boundaries of the canvas or wood panel and not exceed 12" in height.

The results, always exciting, reflect the interests and abilities of the show participants. A wide variety of arts styles and mediums are represented in the show including, 3D sculpture, mosaic, mixed media, painting, and assemblage.

The participants, some of whom are showing in a gallery for the first time, benefit from the enjoyment of participating in this community show. Sequoia benefits as well; the funds raised from the event help Sequoia continue to bring quality art and art programming to the community throughout the year.

Plein Air Painting in Washingto County

new host this year, Sequoia Gallery + Studios. For the past eight years, the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council in cooperation with the Hillsboro Parks and Recreation Department has organized this popular outdoor painting event that attracts landscape artists from around the area.

This year, the event takes on a new name, Plein Air @ Washington County, expands its boundaries to include all of Washington County and increases its duration to four days, October 1 - 4. Artists will have the opportunity to paint in several locations around the county, narrowing to locations in and near Hillsboro towards the final days of the event.

Pumpkin Ridge Ghost Creek Golf Club will host the judging, awards presentation and reception on October 3. On the following day, the golf club will also host an all-day Show and Sale. Sequoia Gallery will present a month long exhibition of paintings from the event during October, starting with the First Tuesday Opening Reception on October 6th.

Registration for the Plein Air @ Washington County event will take place at Sequoia Gallery, during regular gallery hours, from June 1 - October 1. For further information please contact us at: pleinair.washingtoncounty2015@gmail.com
