"Northwest Light" Annual All Member Show December 3, 2013 - January 31, 2014
This year, Sequoia's theme for its annual member show is "Northwest Light." Come observe the various techniques artists use to create light in their art pieces. Gerald Sticka, paints the flickers of light in northwest scenes and wildlife; Christy Perrine captures natures glow in her soft pastels; and Fran Richards displays the warm summer sun in her eclectic traditional and contemporary subjects. Visit the gallery and see more of our Sequoia artists' use of light in the All Member "Northwest Light" Show, opening on First Tuesday, December 3 - January 31. At the reception, enjoy appetizers, wine and music by Bossa Duo.

Sequoia's Ornament Tree
For the third year in a row, Sequoia displays its Ornament Tree filled with handmade ornaments. Creating the ornaments has become an annual community event for Sequoia artists and volunteers. Conceived of as a fundraiser for the gallery's non-profit arts mission by fused glass artist and Sequoia member, JoAnn Wellner, the tree has generated considerable community interest and involvement.
Beginning early in the fall, JoAnn holds several fused glass ornament making sessions for interested members and volunteers. All participants donate their time and the cost of their materials to the fundraisers. JoAnn teaches the volunteers how to use powdered glass and small glass shapes to design an image on a round or square three inch glass "blank". Volunteers use their imaginations to design miniature scenes or abstract "paintings" in glass. After JoAnn fires the ornaments, they are ready for hanging on the gallery's recently purchased cast iron, multi-branched "tree".
In addition to the fused glass ornaments, the tree will also feature miniature painted canvases, and other ornaments that reflect the artistic talents of our members and volunteers.
Please visit the gallery and help us "undecorate" our tree to support Sequoia Gallery + Studios non-profit mission to bring art awareness and education to the community.
