Anne Ferguson
Behind the living-room couch, in a bungalow in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, pre-schooler Anne lay out of sight, drawing on the blank pages in the front and back of books she found among her father's large collection. Anne and her parents survived her quest for paper and 13 years later, she had an art scholarship to Syracuse University.

English Child's Chair, Anne Ferguson
|
Since then, she has worked as an illustrator at an ad agency doing cartoon animation, and as an editorial cartoonist for a weekly newspaper before working full time in oils, acrylics, and pastels. She successfully marketed her art through commercial galleries on the East Coast from Nags Head to New England.
Although constantly experimenting in mediums (pen and ink, watercolor, pastels, oils, colored paper) and style (realistic, impressionistic, abstract) her favorite medium is oil on canvas. Anne's subjects range from people (family scenes, kids playing) to landscapes (from gardens to beaches), but also paintings in series of chairs and old barns. Some of this wide ranging art will be on display at Sequoia Gallery in March.
