 In Conversation: Justice Stephen Breyer and Henry N. Cobb


 The Architectural League and The Cooper Union are honored to host a conversation between the United States Supreme  Court Justice Stephen Breyer and architect Henry N. Cobb. Justice Breyer and Mr. Cobb will discuss their collaboration as  client and architect in the development of the federal courthouse in Boston, and their reflections on the civic importance and  symbolic power of architecture for the judiciary.

 This event is free and open to all. Reservations required. Tickets are will call. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m.; doors open at  8:30 a.m.

Each year, BFI invites scientists, students, designers, architects, activists, entrepreneurs, artists and planners from all over the world to submit solutions for addressing humanity's most pressing problems. Named "Socially-Responsible Design's Highest Award", the Fuller Challenge attracts bold, visionary initiatives focused on critically important, well-defined social and environmental needs. The Fellowship Program is meant to enhance rigorous discourse in the Fuller Challenge review process by bringing additional voices and perspectives into the discussion. FELLOWSHIP | The Bard Graduate Center is currently accepting applications for the third round of Andrew W. Mellon "Cultures of Conservation" Post-Graduate Fellowships, to be held at the BGC during the 2016-2017 academic year. The selected fellows will work on projects at two partner institutions -- the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Anthropology Division of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) -- and will teach and organize events as part of Cultures of Conservation at the BGC. CALL FOR PAPERS | Local Revolutions, the UC San Diego Department of Visual Arts 9th Annual PhD Symposium.
Local Revolutions welcomes papers and presentations by graduate students reconsidering the role of art in local processes of social change. RESIDENCY | University of Michigan STAMPS Roman J. Witt residency program. The mission of the Roman J. Witt Residency Program is to support the production of new work with assistance from the Stamps School of Art & Design community. The program awards one residency per academic year for a visiting artist/designer to work at the school to develop a new work in collaboration with students and faculty. To witness and partake in the creation of a defined work from idea to realization is the centerpiece of the residency. This visibility of the artist's process is intended as an exemplary teaching tool for the school as a whole. DESIGN COMPETITION | The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and the FabLab Barcelona are pleased to announce the 6th Advanced Architecture Contest, on the theme of PRODUCTIVE CITY. CALL FOR WORK | Metals in Construction Competition. Sponsored by The Steel Institute of New York.
Metals in Construction magazine 2016 Design Challenge, an international ideas competition to re-imagine the facade of 200 Park Avenue with the goal of achieving greater energy efficiency. The competition's grand prize is $15,000 and the winner and runners-up will be announced at a conference and exhibition in NYC on Friday, February 26. DESIGN COMPETITION | Interiors & Sources magazine has partnered with architecture and design firms //3877 and Arcsine for its annual I Like Design Student Competition. We're hoping to spread the word about this great opportunity among faculty and students with your assistance. The competition is open to any full-time student enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program with a strong interest in architecture and design. Two winners will receive a paid, full-time 2016 summer internship and paid housing costs with either //3877 in Washington, D.C. or with Arcsine in Oakland, California.
