Professor Emerita Sue Ferguson Gussow (A'56) has taught drawing at The Cooper Union for over 40 years. This special Master Drawing Class benefiting The Cooper Union will include four intense evenings

of drawing instruction and critique.

Thursdays, October 3, 10, 17, 24
6:30 to 9:30 pm | Classes held at The Cooper Union

The only pre-requisite is the love of drawing.

Pre-register now with a minimum contribution of $1,500 ($1,800 after 9/9)
Proceeds to benefit The Cooper Union Annual Fund and the School of Architecture.

DESIGN COMPETITION | The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and HP are pleased to announce the 5th Advanced Architecture Contest, on the theme of SELF-SUFFICIENT HABITAT. The aim of the competition is to promote discussion and research through which to generate insights and visions, ideas and proposals that help us envisage what the city and the habitat of the 21st century will be like. The competition is open to architects, engineers, planners and designers who want to contribute to progress in making the world more habitable by developing a proposal capable of responding to emerging challenges in areas such as ecology, information technology, architecture, and urban planning. STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: OPEN CALL | 89plus is a long-term, international, multi-platform research project co-founded by Simon Castets and Hans Ulrich Obrist. It is conceived as a mapping of the generation born in or after 1989. Without forecasting artistic trends or predicting future creation, 89plus manifests itself through panels, books, periodicals and exhibitions, bringing together individuals from a generation whose voices are only starting to be heard, yet which makes up almost half of the world's population. 89plus announces an open call for artists, writers, architects, filmmakers, musicians, designers, scientists and technologists. There is only one rule: you must be 89plus - born in or after 1989. Submissions are welcome at any time, however the mid-year deadline for 2013 activities is July 30, 2013.  learn more ...

JAE CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS | The JAE invites unpublished text-based (Scholarship of Design) and design-based (Design as Scholarship) submissions for publication in the Spring 2014 issue (Volume 68:1) that explores how architectural praxis and pedagogy are being transformed by techniques, modes of inquiry, issues, discourse, and operational tactics drawn from other disciplines. Deadline: August 1, 2013.
