Lessons From Modernism examines selected works of architecture completed between 1925-1970 through the lens of sustainability. Through an analysis of the influence of nature and the environment in architectural design, Lessons From Modernism provides new insights into works achieved by a diverse selection of architects, including Le Corbusier, Paul Rudolph, Jean Prouv� and Oscar Niemeyer. The exhibition demonstrates how these architects integrated environmental concerns into their designs and explores the extent to which these practices have produced environmentally performative and distinctive architecture.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS | PLOT is the annual journal produced by the Master of Landscape Architecture students of the City College of New York's Spitzer School of Architecture. The theme of PLOT Volume 2 is PATCHWORK. Used both as a noun and a verb, patchwork carries multiple interpretations: a composition of incongruous parts, an ad-hoc assemblage, a disparate array establishing a cohesive pattern. A patchwork technique might explore the idea of the landscape as a quilt of seemingly disparate spaces, joined together in new or revelatory ways. Patchwork might also be considered as a strategic makeshift or temporary measure, on the ground or in the books.
Submissions are open to all: students, professors, practitioners, collaborators, and friends.

METROPOLIS MAGAZINE NEXT GENERATION DESIGN COMPETITION | This competition was created in 2003 to promote environmental activism, social involvement, and entrepreneurship in young designers. The Next Generation Design Competition is open to any designer or architect in practice for ten years or less, as well as design students. The $10,000 prize is intended to support designers whose entries reflect considerations of inclusive design, systems thinking, sustainability, materials exploration, progressive technologies, function, and provocative form. Each design should speak to at least one or several of the 6 sub-disciplines of design supported by the magazine-architecture, urban planning, landscape design, interior design, product design, and graphic design. THE ARCHITECTURAL LEAGUE PRIZE FOR YOUNG ARCHITECTS + DESIGNERS: RANGE | Young architects and designers are invited to submit work to the annual Architectural League Prize Competition. Projects of all types, either theoretical or real, and executed in any medium, are welcome. The jury will select work for presentation in lectures, digital media, and an exhibition in June 2013. Winners will receive a cash prize of $1,000. A catalogue of winning work will be published by the Architectural League and Princeton Architectural Press. The Architectural League Prize is an annual competition, lecture series, and exhibition organized by the Architectural League and its Young Architects + Designers Committee.
