Top Tips
1. Take look at the waste going into your garbage can and see if it can be recycled. Are you using paper towels in the washroom? Are you tossing out milk jugs in the lunch room? These items can be composted or recycled and all contribute to increasing your diversion rate.

2. Use restrictive openings on your containers to help minimize trash in your recycling stream.

2. Hold a training day for all employees and teach them how to use your recycling program effectively.

Beyond the Bin, May 2015

Earlier this month our CEO Bruce Buchan shared some of his industry expertise at the USZWBC Zero Waste workshop for colleges and universities. Attendees learned how the 3Cs are an integral part of a successful recycling program. If you're interested in learning more about how you can get a best in class recycling program watch Bruce's recent webinar for the US Zero Waste Business Council.

In this edition of Beyond the Bin we cover the third and final "C", which stands for Collection, in our 3-part series explaining how the  3C's are a practical way for you to improve your recycling program.

Inspired by the recent Zero Waste conference we thought we'd revisit the article posted last year which offers you practical tips on how you can get on the path to zero waste today!
Collection - Blue Bins are Not the Answer

For an effective recycling program it's critical that you determine your facility's collection requirements by following these 5 simple steps.

Zero Waste is an Attainable Goal

Zero Waste is a philosophy that takes a whole system approach to the flow of resources and waste through our society. It emphasizes waste prevention at the beginning of the cycle rather than waste management. Learn how you can get on the path to zero waste.

Bears are No. 1 (again) in national game-day recycling contest
In what could be termed a "three-peat," the Berkeley campus has successfully defended its title in Recyclemania, the national collegiate basketball game waste-diversion competition. In its third consecutive win of the game-day challenge, Berkeley achieved its best showing yet, with 96 percent of waste being diverted from landfill.
