St. Mary Mag is now officially in Belton!

Thanks to Correlia and Kendal Anderson, for allowing it to be installed on their property.  And to Kary Mann with the help of her nephew Josh for installing it.  We now have a church sign on Hwy. 58 / North Avenue.

Welcome, Belton, to St. Mary Magdalene!

I am glad to tell you we are sharing in the efforts of the
Cass County Non-profits, an informal partnership between local churches, healthcare systems, assistance programs, school districts and civic leaders.

If you live in the Cass County area, I ask you to please
take a few moments to complete the survey below, to help
all of us identify the transportation needs of the local community to which our parish ministers. This survey is anonymous, and only the survey results will be shared.

Bless you for taking the time to help us be more aware of our neighbors in an informed way...

St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross

Tuesday, August 30th
3:00 P.M. to 7:00 p.m.

church's parking lot at
16808 Homes Road in
Belton, MO

Walk-ins are welcome, but the bloodmobile can only handle a limited number of people at a time.  So during a busy time you might have to wait.  Appointments are recommended.  To make an appointment to donate, sign up online at www.redcrossblood.org.

"St. Mary Magdalene is committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations," said Fr. Ash. "This blood drive is our way of giving our parish members and our neighbors an opportunity to help save lives."

Fr. Ash refers to himself as a "career" volunteer donor, having recently started his seventh gallon. Reaching back to the 1980s, this has been a way for him to help save lives.

Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.

"We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There's no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life."

According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.

Confirmation

Many of us were baptized as children. At that time our parents and Godparents committed to us growing up in a life of faith. They vowed to take the lead in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Holy Confirmation is that sacrament where a person takes the adult step of personally affirming those vows of their Baptism. Like all sacraments, it is a moment of change, when the commitment of others ends and we step up to the plate, accept the grace of God ourselves, and make our own personal commitment to follow Christ.

Fr. Evan is asking all of those, teens and adults, who feel called to this moment of personal commitment to let him know. He plans on offering a Confirmation/Inquirer's class this fall. This class will help participants learn and reflect on the full scope of our faith as preparation for Confirmation.

It also is an opportunity for anyone who wishes to refresh their awareness and for those confirmed in another faith tradition to update their understanding of the Anglican way.

Please let Fr. Evan know if you are at this moment in your walk with God.

Thanks...

Fr. Evan+
