The search committee invites all St. Mary Magdalene parishioners to regularly pray for the committee's service to our beloved faith community:
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Help Habitat for Humanity
Volunteer for the House of Abraham
Work begins on June 28
Volunteers are needed for the interfaith Habitat for Humanity project "House of Abraham." This year the project entails the restoration of a home at 2928 Wayne, Kansas City, MO versus new construction as we have done in the past. Volunteers are needed for all kinds of carpentry work or just be able to do some clean up and move items. Job assignments will be based on your abilities so you don't need to be a trim carpenter to help. Build days will be on Saturdays (dates to be determined) with the plan to complete the project this summer.

St. Mary Magdalene's Mission
in Le Pretre Haiti
Our mission in Le Pretre has been languishing due to a lack of funds, and the withdrawal of the lead parish in Pensacola, FL. Our last visit was 2 1/2 years ago, when we built a latrine for the church, which doubles as an elementary school for grades 1-5. This latrine is now in need of some major work, as it was intended to be temporary. It needs a new concrete platform over the pit, to replace the rapidly degrading wooden floor it now sits on.
It is time for SMM to take the lead on this project, and schedule a trip to repair the latrine in mid October, tentatively from Oct 3rd to the 11th. This will be a combined construction/medical trip, since they have not had a medical visit for 2 years, either. We are looking for willing workers (no experience required to participate), and a doctor, dentist, or nurses. A pediatrician would be great! The cost per person is $2000, so we will hold some fundraising events to help cover the costs for those who want to go but cannot afford it.
For more information please contact Jim Grant at [email protected].

Children's Ministry needs your help when you travel this summer
Please remember our Children's Ministry needs donations of toiletries during your summer family vacations. Any unused and unopened, sample-sized toiletries from your hotel stays are needed. We are always in great need of shampoo and body lotion samples. You can purchase these samples at drugstores and discount stores, usually for a dollar. Please consider spending an extra dollar to purchase and donate a sample; it is greatly appreciated.
Our children take these donated toiletries, organize them, and package them into kits so that they can be distributed at St Mary's Food Pantry. Please contact Denise Koch with questions. Thanks!

BackSnack Ministry Delivers
Deliveries to Martin City Elementary began during the first week of October, which means we have resumed backpack preparation on Sundays after worship.
Each Sunday after the service, we pack 100 backpacks with nonperishable, self-preparable food items, then arrange mid-week delivery to Martin City Elementary, who distributes the packs to students who might otherwise go hungry over the weekend. Can you stuff a sack? Lift a box? Then this ministry is for you! Please direct any questions to Olivia Garrison at (816) 787-5350, [email protected]; or Tammy Garrison at (816) 352-4067, [email protected]. We look forward to working with you on Sundays after church in this important service to the children of the greater Kansas City community!
