Hello there! I apologize for missing the newsletter that was supposed to go out last week, but to tell the truth, I was so busy with the Peddler Show that I didn't have time to write one with much of anything in it. I figured it would be better to wait a week than send a nuisance email with no real content in it! Next year, I may have to revisit the mailing frequency too. Perhaps a monthly enewsletter makes more sense. What's your opinion? It would help me to find out what you're looking for. There is a cost associated even with emailing the newsletter, as well as maintaining the website, and I want to make sure I've got your input on the matter. Drop me a note if you like.

Farmer's Market

Last Saturday I was happy to return to the Farmer's Market at Imperial Sugar! It was good to see some of the same faces there and also to meet some very exciting new vendors! My booth was outside in the bright sunshine, which was lucky for me. Otherwise I would have probably spent all my money on the delicious Indian and Pakistani breads that were available. I'll be back there this Saturday too. If you're in the neighborhood between 9:00am and 1:00pm, stop by! I just may have some hibiscus tea for you!
You Can Grow That Graphic
This month I also participated in the "You Can Grow That" campaign, a garden blogger's project to enhance the appreciation we all have for gardening. I think you'll like reading the other blog entries collected there. Head on over and take a peek!

Thanks again and garden on!
Tea Time!

I know many of you bought small hibiscus plants from me earlier this spring and by now, you're probably amazed that such a small baby grew into the huge monster you have now! But all that growth  means you have tons of flowers now, right? This hibiscus is a short-day bloomer and it's always a hustle to harvest enough calyxes for tea before the first real freeze. The article below contains a slide show with detailed instructions on both harvesting and preparing your beautiful home-grown hibiscus tea!

My label! Isn't it cute?

By the way, if you didn't plant your own hibiscus for tea, it's not too late! I'm busy harvesting like mad and should have at least a few bags of dried tea for sale at the Farmer's Market this Saturday, complete with recipe. Stop by and taste!

Winter-Growing Succulents

Because I've been traipsing all over town lately with my little succulents, I've been getting quite a few questions about caring for them during the winter. Succulents are relatively easy to care for, but like all plants, they have some special requirements.

Here's a longer article about caring for them during the fall and winter months.

What's Cooking?

I admit: I'm a bit of a foodie. I never met a vegetable I didn't like to eat, so I'm never really concerned about what to do with them when the garden kicks into overdrive. But sometimes the cooking muse fails me or I'm running short on time and ingredients in the kitchen. When that happens, I turn to soup. Here's my never-fail method of turning any vegetable at all into a delicious creamy soup. I'd love to hear your adaptations of it!
