Highlights From APRIL General Meeting
Dr. Larry Goss, DVM gave a fantastic presentation regarding Equestrian First Aid.  The information he provided was loaded with beneficial information.

One of the main topics was what to carry in a First Aid Kit while riding your horse on a trail.

Some of those items:  Banamine, Thermometer, Antiseptic Rinse, Clean Wraps & Self Adhesive Wraps, Feminine Sanitary Pads and Flex Tube for insertion in horse nose in case of snake bite.

The slide show that Dr Goss brought with him was a great addition to his knowledgeable and entertaining presentation.

Our turn out of members was one of our best, we had about 30 members that night!

Many THANKS to Dr. Goss for taking the time to be our guest speaker!

If you would like to suggest an event and/or speaker for one of our meetings, please email:  admin@mvtrails.org

General Meeting - MAY 22, 2013
Our Next Meeting:

Wednesday, May 22, 2013
Social begins @ 6:30pm, Speaker @ 7:00pm
Meadow Vista Equestrian Arena
Combie Rd., Meadow Vista

Guest Speaker will actually be a demonstration on
Dog Training!

Due to the nature of our presentation, we will not be meeting at Mt. Mike's.  Instead we will meet at the Equestrian Arena at the end of Combie Rd in Meadow Vista.

It will be a Pot Luck Night, so bring something that will feed about 4-6 people.  Anything you would like!  MVTA will provide the plates, plastic utensils, and napkins.  Please bring your own drinks (BYOD).

There are chairs at the arena, but you are welcome to bring your own.  Please park your car down at the staging area and walk up to the large arena for the presentation.  Handicap/Disabled will be an exception.

PIONEER DAY !!!                   JUNE 2, 2013

Come join us in the annual Pioneer Day Parade in Meadow Vista!  We would love to have
all the members we can gather march with us behind the MVTA Banner!

We have had members on horse back, bicycle, walking, wagon.  We have had goats & dogs join us!  Members of all ages welcome.  Come show everyone the smiling faces that keeps our local trails clean & clear for use!  We might be short banner holders this year, so if interested, please come!

After the parade, as always, MVTA will host a booth at the MV Park, promoting our trails and of course, recruiting new members to help us keep these trails clean, beautiful, safe and open.  If you are interested in helping out for an hour or two, please contact:
Claudia @ 530-637-1682!

We will gather for the parade at 11:30am.  We usually meet at the Dentist Parking Lot across from Vet's office.

Date:  June 2nd

HIDDEN FALLS REGIONAL PARK

7587 Mears Place

Hidden Falls Regional Park Phase II, the County Parks will be having their Grand Opening Ceremony.

MVTA SUGAR PINE MOUNTAIN SPRING FUN RUN OR WALK !!!
Sugar Pine Mountain Spring Fun Run or Walk

MVTA's first ever Fun Run was a light success.  We may not have brought in the amount of runners/walkers that we had wanted, but it was enough to cover costs!  Not bad for a first time attempt in putting on an event that we had never done before.

Our winners were:

Linda Ashcraft- Women's 7-Mile
Sam Smith - Men's 7-Mile
Michelle Houston - Women's 2.5-Mile
Rex Bloomfield - Men's 2.5-Mile

Many THANKS to our participants and to our volunteers who sat at check points endearing the sun and avoiding the ants & poison oak!

We ALL enjoyed the cookies!

The best thing to come out of promoting this Fun Run, was the possibility of a partnership on a like venture with John Arrabit & Sam Smith!

TRAIL WORKPAYBACK TO OUR GREAT TRAILS!
Our first Trail Work Day, is now officially scheduled!!
Please join us......

Meet   Date:     Saturday, June 1, 2013
Meet  Time:     9:00 am
Meet  Place:     Mt. Mike's Pizza Parking Lot
Target Trail:    SIMPSON RANCH TRAIL

At the gathering in the Mt Mike's parking lot, we will decide the best place to park at the Simpson Ranch and head out about 9:15am.

Most of the work on this trails is clipping overgrown black berry vines and overgrowth of bushes & tree limbs.  Bring your own clippers if you wish, but please make sure you bring water to drink.  This is an easy work day, clipping & walking.

In planning 2013 Trail Work Sessions, we are asking for feedback from our members.  If you know of a trail or part of a trail that is going to need immediate attention, please contact us via the website or email to admin@mvtrails.org.  This way we can be sure to start on the trails with the most need first!
