Greetings Again All,

This month's newsletter theme is our outward appearance and how acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can help us all look better.  Of course this is really an inside job, and a healthy individual will radiate their internal balance externally and look like the happy healthy person they are.  This is our potential anyway and best case scenario, as the human condition and modern living habits challenge us to keep calm, content, and healthy. Then there is the aging thing too, but hooray, Chinese Medicine can help with this in terms of potentially slowing that inevitable process down and allowing us to feel and look our best for as long as possible.

In this newsletter then, I will talk a bit and provide you with links for exploring how Chinese Medicine can improve our appearance through its basic functions, facial rejuvenation treatments, and by its ability to treat dermatological issues.

In addition, in previous newsletters I have written about the central importance of the concept of  LONGEVITY  in the history of China and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and that concept is certainly pertinent here.  So, for those of you who want a reminder and for those of you who missed it, here is the initial newsletter in that series for your review.

Thanks for paying attention and

Best to All of You!

Beth

Want to Look Younger?  Try Acupuncture

The first article I would like recommend is from Acutakehealth.com and is titled "Want to Look Younger? Try Acupuncture."   It is a brief article that explores some of the theory around the five core organ systems in Chinese Medicine and how when they function in a balanced and healthy way they contribute to an overall healthy appearance.  I think it is a good article and I like the website too.  See what you think.

  Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

For the last 12 years (since shortly after my 40th  birthday), I have been providing "facial rejuvenation" treatments.  I confess my motivation for learning this was personal as well as professional, but I am quite happy to have these treatments in my skill set.  I have provided this service to many folks at this point and believe that all of them have been pleased with the results.  It is defiantly not surgery and is not for everyone, but it is a safe and healthy way to remove years from the face by toning the facial muscles, increasing circulation, and improving ( and sometimes significantly) fine lines and wrinkles.  These treatments include internal balancing of course and all the other benefits that come with an acupuncture session. This means that internal issues showing up on the face such as dark circles, eye puffiness, and facial edema can all be improved along with issues such as acne and rosacea.

To get the answers to some frequently asked questions about facial rejuvenation, here is your link, and for those of you who may want to experiment with doing your own "acupressure facelift," this book will be helpful.

      Chinese Medicine and Dermatology

And last but not least on the list and perhaps even more significant is the fact that Chinese Medicine can be extremely helpful in the treatment of dermatological issues. As a comprehensive medicine these concerns are addressable of course, and Chinese Medicine can treat everything from acne and shingles to excema, sebborhea, and psoriasis. There is a long history behind this and thousands of years experience. For more details about all this, here is a link, and here is another!

World Health Organization List of Treatable Conditions

needles I want to include this list from the World Health Organization in all my newsletters just to remind you of everything acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can treat. As a practitioner I know this is just a partial list, but it is official and great PR.
