Mushroom Walk On for 10 a.m. Today
Although it is a bit wet and windy, the NHLT Mushroom Walk is a go for this morning at the Town's Jones Mountain Open Space Preserve on Steele Road (unless torrential rains and/or lightning is occurring). If you would like to join a group of hearty fungi folk to learn about mushrooms from mycologist Marlene Snecinski, please e-mail us or call 860-480-4844 as soon as possible. We have several spots open.

Please wear water-resistant boots and rain gear. Marlene suggests bringing a walking stick and leaving your electronic devices that may be sensitive to moisture in the car! If the weather turns very bad when on site, we may adjourn for a cup of hot tea nearby and learn about mushrooms indoors!

Weingart's Farm Stand on
Gillette Road in Bakersville

NHLT's Fall Frolic features two long tables filled with displays about local farms, maple sugaring operations, wineries and and other agricultural operations in our area. We are very grateful to these producers who also donate wonderful door prizes of their specialty products for the event and some of the ingredients for our dinner menu that includes butternut squash lasagna, homemade desserts, meat entrees from Avon Prime Meats and much more.

The NHLT e-News will feature a spotlight on one of these farms in our next edition. Last fall, we profiled Gresczyk Farms which lends wonderful support to the Frolic each year. Click here to read the story.

This year's Frolic will feature a few new farms in our showcase. Come and browse the photo displays and farm information! Anyone who attends the Frolic is automatically entered in the drawing for door prizes. You could win maple syrup from Weingart's Farm Stand, West Hill Sugar House, vegetables from Grinvalsky Farm Stand or Bristol's Farm, eggs from the Eureka Grange, apples from Hayward Farm, a gift certificate from Jerram Winery or CT Valley Winery, a jar of something from Renaissance Farm, a pumpkin from Gresczyk's, something from Holiday FarmMaple Hollow Tree FarmBurdick Road Orchard, Barden Farm and more!
