Reminder! Please e-mail us if you might join the Walk.
We will e-mail the group signed up on Sunday morning to advise
if cancelled due to weather. Intermittent rain is a go.
Steady or soaking rain will cancel. Please note that some of our flyers
mistakenly said 'Saturday, May 31st'. Tell anyone you know who
may be coming that it is definitely on Sunday!

Spring Bird Walk
Pileated Woodpecker

Sunday, May 31st, 7:30 a.m.
Led by Fran Zygmont
 Litchfield Hills Audubon Society
Meet at 190 Stub Hollow Road

Join NHLT's second, annual birding by ear walk in Stub Hollow and Maple Hollow. This walk will delight beginners and experts alike. Expert Fran Zygmont will go over some basics about bird watching and share his knowledge so you will know what to look and listen for. Bring binoculars or a scope. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and to see a variety of birds. The walk will last two to three hours and will be on a dirt road so no worries about ticks! You can leave at any time if you cannot stay for the duration.

We encourage you to pre-register by e-mail. Steady or soaking rain will cancel. Intermittent rain is a go. Park in the driveway at 190 Stub Hollow Road. We will gather at the bottom of the driveway for the walk.

Chimney Swift

About 40 people came out last night to see the birds roost at NH Elementary and to hear our wonderful presenter, Shannon Kearney-McGee!

If you missed yesterday's Chimney swift program, go to NH Elementary on your own to see these birds drop into their roosting chimney just at and after sunset (about 8:20 p.m. now).

If you were there and did not get materials, please e-mail us and we will send them to you.

Save these Dates!
(More hikes and programs will be added so watch your e-mail for updates.
If you have time to work on our properties, please contact us as we have
many informal opportunities for that!)

The Fall Frolic Committee is planning this year's party and needs your help! Please e-mail us if you want to join the event committee or if you have just a few hours to give and can help decorate on October 16th or work at the event for an hour or two on October 17th! This year's celebration will again feature a focus on farms and other agricultural producers in our community along with a costume parade for kids and  family-friendly ticket prices! If you haven't frolicked with us before, it is a relaxed evening with dinner, live music, a bonfire and homemade desserts plus displays about local farms. Join your neighbors and make new friends at this community party! Plan to stay in town that weekend and head up to Ski Sundown from 6-10 p.m.!
