About the Presenters
Christopher Brooks, a graduate of Wesleyan University, writes regularly for the New York Times. His more than two decades of writing experience include a five-year stint as contributing editor at Market Watch and 14 years as contributing editor and columnist at Country Living, along with contributions to many other magazines and newspapers. Catherine Brooks spent her childhood in Belgium, delving often into the forests around Brussels while raising rabbits and roosters as pets. Her enjoyment of nature falls under a

large umbrella of passions, including birds, mushrooms and flowers. Catherine started her career as an interpreter-translator. Later, she went to work for a U.S.-based multinational corporation, with marketing responsibilities spread over six European countries. A professional photographer, she has had her images published in Backpacker and many other magazines. Together, the Brookses recently authored 60 Hikes within 60 Miles: New York City (3rd edition). Among their other books are Easy HikesClose to Home: New York City, and the California half of Frommer's The Unofficial Guide to the Best RV and Tent Campgrounds in California and the West. They have hiked the Appalachian, Pacific Crest, and Inca Trails and have extensively explored the United States, as well as Mexico and South America, Europe, Australia and parts of Asia.
