Julia's To-Do List:
(as seen through the eyes of a 10 year old)
As many of you know, I am engaged to a wonderful man named Brad. He has 3 daughters, Sarah, Sophie and Julia, ages 15, 12 and 10, respectively. They are constantly teaching me new things and helping me tweak my organizing skills. They live at their mother's house nearby most of the week and they stay with us every other weekend and Wednesday nights. It's a pretty common arrangement, however, since I never had kids of my own, it has been a huge adjustment for me. After a lot of work getting to know each other and bonding in our own ways, I am happy to say the girls and I are in a good place.
I recently had the opportunity to spend the day with Julia. As she has observed me over the last few years, she knows I am constantly making lists for everything. So, one Saturday, she came up with a list of her own for our day together. Here is how it looked:
To Do:
● Wach a show together. [sic]
● Play a board game, while eating a cupcake.
● Take a rest.
● Campout in my closet.
● Make a fort in my closet.
● Take a drink of water.
● Listen to a song and relax.
Aaahhh....the joys of being 10. Let's use this as a gentle reminder that while we busy ourselves this summer with various activities and "to-do's" let's remember Julia's list and have a little fun and relax, too. After all, it's summertime! Enjoy!
