Welcome to the 2013-2014 Academic Year!

Dear Parents,

The 2013-2014 academic year has officially begun! As the semesters progress, the Parent Council will be sending newsletters just like this one to keep you apprised of the latest and greatest on campus. We look forward to another inspiring year for our students filled with excitement, challenges, new friends and life-changing experiences. Should you have questions, need advice, or want to get involved, contact us at parentcouncil@eckerd.edu.

Our topic this month is Winter Term! As your student settles in to his dorm and gets into the steady rhythm of classes, don't let Winter Term preparation sneak up on you. It's an excellent, unique opportunity to infuse your student's Eckerd education with a global experience. Below are a few fast-approaching deadlines your student won't want to miss!

Best of luck to your family for a productive and fun-filled semester!

Sincerely,

Steve and Donna Bell (P '14)

Parent Council Co-Chairs

P.S. What does the "(P '14)" after our names mean? Our son, Steven, is a senior this year. Just as the College recognizes alumni by their class year, the "P" indicates we're parents of a student from that class.

Annual Thanksgiving Feast on Campus
For those students unable to travel home for the holiday, Dean of Students Jim Annarelli and his family will host the annual Thanksgiving Feast in Fox Hall on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28. There will be a delicious buffet of turkey with all the traditional trimmings, football game viewing in Triton's Pub, and activities for all ages. Meal cards will admit students who are on the meal plan. For other students, faculty, staff and guests, the dinner charge will be $7.50 per person. Tickets will be available in the Bon Appetit Dining Services Office later in the fall. Please encourage your son or daughter to attend this festive celebration of the extended Eckerd College family.
