Do You Know about Your Transit Options? 

Most people are familiar with Pace bus and its fixed routes, but do you know about paratransit? There are more than 50 known paratransit services across the county primarily serving seniors and people with disabilities. PACE provides ADA paratransit and Dial-a-Ride and there's other services provided by townships and senior centers. New Clothing and Textile Recycling Program
To reduce textile and clothing waste SWALCO has launched a new recycling program. Bring your clothing, textiles and fabrics to a drop off location to be recycled. For more information, contact Merleanne Rampale at 847.336.9340 and see their website.

Celebrate 10 years of Reuse-A-Shoe by turning unwanted shoes into sports courts, playgrounds and other products and prevent tons of reusable shoes from ending up in our landfills. Vernon Hills' Annual Road Rehabilitation Project 

The Village of Vernon Hills will be performing road improvements to Corporate Woods Parkway, Hickory Hill Drive, Woodlands Parkway and Forest Edge Drive as part of the Village's 2014 Road Rehabilitation Project. The roadways will be open during construction with some delays expected. The tentative start date is May 5, 2014.  See map and read press release for more info.

Free Women's Self-Defense Class Hosted by Vernon Hills Police Dept.
Tuesday, May 6, 7 - 9 p.m.
Vernon Hills Police Station, 740 Lakeview Pkwy.
This free class is open to women age 8 and up (children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent). Harriet Johnson, Director of the Crystal Lake Hapikodo school, and former police officer and expert in self-defense will be teaching the basic principles of survival and awareness and how to defend yourself.
