  V-E Day - May 8th, 1945 - A day not to be forgotten!
IMPORTANT DATES

Friday May 8th - Don't miss this!
V-E Day Remembrance
(This is your chance to shake hands with history.)

A SPECIAL TRIBUTE ON FRIDAY MAY 8TH - V-E DAY

Seventy years ago on April 30, 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin Bunker.  Eight days later on May 8th 1945 the German commanders signed an unconditional surrender to the Allied commanders also in Berlin.  That day President Truman went on the radio and announced the end of war in Europe.  The country went wild in celebration.  Over a half million people crammed into Times Square in New York City to celebrate the victory.  May 8th came to be known as V-E Day and was celebrated for many years after.

Friday, May 8th is the seventieth anniversary of V-E day and the Pomfret Club will commemorate the day with an evening program which will include remembrances by some of those who fought in the war and we will view a brief video produced by Lou Reda Productions that will also help commemorate that momentous day. Morris Metz, who for many years was President of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Committee, will present the program and he will be joined by other WW II veterans.

This should be an inspirational evening when we can once again honor those who did so much to preserve our freedoms.

If attendance is sufficient, we will have a buffet in the dining room at a cost of $23.95 per person.  Dinner will be served starting at 6PM with the program following.

We hope you will consider joining in the celebration of one of the greatest days in our history.

Please reply to our office 610 258-7641 to make your reservation.

Thank you,
Andy Daub, President
