Decisions, Decisions!

As a leader, you may often find yourself with the task of making the best choice among several good solutions.  At these times, it can be helpful to employ certain decision making processes to help you determine solution attractiveness.  Comparing possible solutions or options against key criteria to determine which one best meets the criteria is often a good place to begin.

The next time you are faced with making the best choice among several good solutions, follow the steps below to help rate your options:

  1. Create a table with all viable solutions or options listed across the top.
  2. Develop a list of key criteria that an ideal solution should satisfy and list them on the left side of the table.
  3. Rate each solution/option against the criteria to determine which of your possible solutions is the best option.
