DonorRecogDonor Recognition

At United Way of Laramie County thanking, recognizing and encouraging our donors to become actively involved in United Way and our community is very important to us.

Information on our new donor recognition programs:

Loyal Contributors are individuals (or couples) who have given to any United Way for 10 years or more. These 10 years do not have to be consecutive. If you have given to another United Way, let us know so we can track your giving years.

Leadership Giving is the most effective and efficient way for leaders to expand their community engagement. By making an investment at the Leadership Giving level of $1,000 or more, your generosity will be recognized - acknowledging your commitment to building a better Laramie County as a giving leader.

The Tocqueville Society strives to deepen the understanding, commitment and support of those individuals who are United Way's most generous and community-minded investors. Membership in the Tocqueville Society is open to donors who make an annual contribution of $10,000 or more. Members receive local and national recognition and benefits.

For more information on our donor recognition programs, contact us at LiveUnited@UnitedWayofLaramieCounty.org or 638-8904.

ChairsWhy We Do What We Do to Support United Way of Laramie County

by Pat Ashworth

Renee and I always supported the local United Way when we lived in Montana. Since moving to Cheyenne and buying the Express Employment franchise it made even more sense for us to stay involved with the Laramie County organization. United Way of Laramie County's vision and our vision go hand in hand - to help people succeed. Through our Program Partners, United Way works to educate individuals and families to promote financial stability and independence. By giving a hand up versus a hand out we help strengthen families and improve lives. This makes a better Laramie County for all of us.

Last year under the leadership of Dr. Surbrugg and Dr. Prentice, our 2013 Campaign Co-Chairs, we learned more about the importance of United Way in our community and United Way's relationship with our Program Partners. Divided into three categories: Education, Income and Health - these partners do an amazing job. Our partners in education help children and youth achieve their full potential. Our income partners help neighbors in crisis and strengthen families. And, our health partners work to improve the health of our community.

To make a better community. Because it's our community. That's why Renee and I do what we do. Please join us - let's work together to make Laramie County a better place to live, work and play.

freeWyoming Free Tax Service

The Wyoming Free Tax Service is celebrating 10 years in our community. In Laramie County, the Wyoming Free Tax Service is a collaboration between the Internal Revenue Service, Laramie County Community College and United Way of Laramie County. The goal of this organization is to meet tax preparation needs for low and moderate income tax payers.

During the 2013 filing season, 17 IRS certified tax preparers volunteered more than 900 hours assisting Laramie County residents with their tax preparation and filing needs. United Way assists in volunteer recruitment, marketing the site to the public and Rod Hottle is trained and volunteers at the site during the tax season.

The local site will be open again in January/February 2015.
