Greetings from Junior Achievement!
The Social Innovation Relay 2014 is in full swing and has so far touched the lives of 1221 students in India.
With 927 students registered and another 295 students who attended classroom based case studies , 136 teams, and 48 ideas, India is 3rd highest on the list of countries participating in the SIR, behind Romania and Indonesia!
As of 20th March, 11,159 students from 19 countries across the world had registered for SIR.
The Top 20
After, Idea submissions closed on 24th March, HP evaluated the 48 ideas submitted and selected the top 20 teams who will compete in the next round. The shortlisted teams come from 8 cities across India with Mumbai and Chandigarh having the most number of teams in the top 20, at 5 each. Strawberry Fields World School from Chandigarh accounts for all the shortlisted teams from Chandigarh and is also the school with the maximum chosen teams (5), with DPS Amritsar coming second with 3 shortlisted teams.
Currently the mentors and teams are being matched up and will be announced by April 6th, after which mentors will work with their teams to develop their ideas into a concept paper, due to be submitted by 30th April .
This year, noted social entrepreneur Fatima Bano is also going to mentor a team as part of the cross-border mentoring initiative.

National Finals to be broadcast live in HP offices around the world!
The National Finals in India will be held on 20th May, which is HP's "Global Day of Service". SIR National Finals from 7 countries will be held on this day and broadcasted live in HP offices around the world. HP volunteers can log in HP My Room and participate in the finals by voting for the team in whose idea they would be most likely to invest . The winning team and their teacher will get a HP printer (SIR Service Innovation Award)!
