Food for Thought

 No-Bake Yummy Bites

Ingredients
  • 1 cup oatmeal (Dry - I use Old Fashioned oats and I break them down with my hands so they are a bit finer)
  • 2/3 cup coconut flakes (unsweetened and lightly toasted in a dry frying pan)
  • ½ cup crunchy peanut butter (no sugar added)
  • ½ cup chopped roasted peanuts
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (I use Ghirardelli dark choc chips and mix it with semi-sweet choc chips) chopped fine
  • ¾ cup chopped raisins chopped fine (cranberries or other dried fruit would be good too)
  • 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons of glyconutrient combination--glyconutrients, vitamins/minerals and antioxidants (optional)

Directions

Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour. Roll into ¾ inch sized balls. Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week. Makes about 20 balls.

Life's Lessons

I enjoy reading the newsletters I receive from Dr. Robert Rohm. He's not only funny (actually hysterical when listening to him in person!) but, he's wise. I like learning from his personal experiences and it comforts me to know we are all on the same "life journey" learning life's lessons! Dr Rohm says:

"I don't know about you, but the longer I live and the older I get, the more value I see in the wisdom that life has to offer. Life is such a great teacher! If we don't learn what she is trying to teach us the first time, the lesson will come over and over again until we finally get it. No one sets out to live in a foolish, haphazard, wasteful manner. We all want our lives to be productive; full of love, joy, peace, happiness, and many other qualities. Success is the result of hard work, focus, discipline, planning, and being willing to learn from the mistakes that we make on the journey."

I love that! If we learn the lessons quickly we will save ourselves from having to experience painful things over and over again...if we don't it's pretty much guaranteed we will get more of life's (sometimes hard) lessons until we do!

 Knowledge is Power

Erectile Dysfunction

More and more men suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED) and it is occuring at younger and younger ages. ED is often the first symptom of cardiovascular disease. Doctors have referred to it as "the canary in the coal mine" because if you have vascular disease anywhere, you have it everywhere.

A diet consisting primarily of plant-sourced foods augmented with plant-based vitamins, minerals, and glyconutrients is much less expensive than drugs used to treat ED which can cost two thousand dollars for a year's supply. There are no negative side effects like those reported with the drugs (blindness, hearing loss, headaches, stomach disorders, diarrhea, dizziness, and bloody urine). Most importantly, changing your diet and adding exercise usually results in permanent improvement in vascular blood flow. It is the safest, most cost-effective, and lasting approach to solving ED.

 A Note from Angie

Angie LawGreetings!

Fall is most definitely in the air! And, it's been gorgeous to see it as we've made our way out west. Wow, truly we live in a beautiful country!

We are now in Idaho and I'm happy to say the Consumer Awareness Guides have arrived. They are beautiful and we have been inundated with requests for them. 2700 were pre-ordered in just the first 3 days! Since there is so much confusion in the market place surrounding supplements it's nice to have a tool to take with you when purchasing them.

The Guide will help you decipher what's actually helpful for you verses what isn't helpful and even what may be harmful. I remember very well how stressed I was when purchasing supplements! I had no idea if I was, "robbing Peter to pay Paul!" With the help of the guide you can take care to purchase only that which is efficacious. No more throwing money away on stuff which doesn't help and which might even hurt you! Since the guide is just 20 cents (plus shipping), it's affordable to share with those you know love and care about. Click on "Consumer Awareness Guide" below to see it in PDF. Send us an email to place your order today.

   Blessings - Angie

Did You Know?
Falling For Apples

Christopher Elwell | Dreamstime.comThis time of year apples are available in the best varieties! As we drive through the countryside we frequently see roadside fruit stands. What's not hard to notice are the huge bushel-baskets full of apples of every kind. Each variety has such unique flavor and sweetness. Biting into a fresh picked apple is an explosion of indescribable JOY! =)

If I want one just to eat, my personal favorite is the Honeycrisp. But, for baking pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas it's McIntosh all the way! For a extensive list of apples and the time of year when they are at their peak click here: Apples

Two Doctors Speak Out On Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease

Dr T. Colin Campbell is author of the best selling book, The China Study. He grew up on a dairy farm but it wasn't until he travelled to China that he had to reevaluate his attitude towards meat and dairy. He developed a twenty year relationship and research partnership between the Chinese Academy of Preventative Medicine and Cornell University. His landmark study investigated why cancer mortality rates published in 1981 by Chinese medical institutions varied so widely across China. He discovered the critical role nutrition and lifestyle played in this disease. Specifically, he discovered statistically significant ties between the consumption of animal protein and increased rates of cancer and cardiovascular disease. He documented that casein, a protein found in milk from mammals was "the most relevant carcinogen ever identified."

Scientific Study Documents Whole, Plant-based Foods Beneficial to Human Health While Animal-based Protein Foods Are Not.

The New York Times called the study "the most comprehensive large study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of develping disease." Data was collected from 130 villages involving 6,500 adults in 65 counties across China. The 350 trained workers who collected the data found that the consumption of whole, plant-based foods offered the best strategy for creating health and preventing serious disease.

Cardiovascular Disease Is A Food-borne Illness. Change Your Food and You Change Your Life

Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn Jr., is an award winning surgeon at the renowned Cleveland Clinic and author of the book, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. Dr. Esselstyn performed two decades worth of research and found that cancer and cardiovascular disease were rare among people who ate plant-based foods. He recruited 24 of the sickest patients from the Cleveland Clinic cardiovascular department. These patients had been told to go home and prepare for death. He educated and put each of them on a plant-based diet. Every one of them that followed the diet lived without any more incidents of heart disease. Dr. Esselstyn's studies demonstrated that the Western, processed-foods diet of oils, dairy, and meat destroy the endothelial cells that line our blood vessels. Resulting plaque builds up and inhibits blood flow leading to cardiovasular disease.

Bottom Line

Published research demonstrates dramatically that cancer and cardiovascular disease are conditions that can be prevented with nutrition. If you have one of these diseases, the progression can be stopped and even reversed. Plant-based foods have critical nutrients that are essential for human health. Supplement that basic diet with plant-based vitamins, minerals, and glyconutrients to create the best protection and disease fighting team to defend yourself against sickness.

 Painting Pottery
 Painting Fun

Dating is something we love to do! Just last weekend we were spoiled with a fun date. One of our sons-in-law planned and executed a great day of fun for Larry and me and also for his sweetheart and our son and his sweetheart too! He took us to a fun place where we had great homemade hamburgers (something we haven't had for awhile!), and yummy homemade "pie-shakes"!

Wow, I can tell you that was something different but that was only the beginning as he then took us to a pottery place where we each got to paint something. What fun it was for me to sit there next to my husband watching HIM paint--that was the best! I was smiling the whole time! We all had a blast and finished our little "projects" with childlike excitement...now we're awaiting the finished pieces to get "fired."

We will remember this date for the rest of our lives I'm certain! We all had such a great time simply because our son-in-law made it a priority...now, that's building healthy relationships!
