We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a happy, healthy, and memorable holiday season with family and friends.

Over the past two weeks, the media has been talking about Uptalk or Upspeak, which is a pattern of rising the pitch at the end of declarative statements, making them sound like questions. This makes the speaker sound more tentative.

A recent Jeopardy contestant had a repetitive vocal pattern that set Twitter on fire with comments.

Although a variation of uptalk, this was more of a pattern that she used as she asked for a question. Regardless, it got everyone talking about uptalk.

This was perfect timing for my video blog on Uptalk. In a recent workshop, the participants had difficulty hearing this pattern in themselves or others. Check out the blog and post any comments.

Watch this brief video. Are you guilty of UPTALK?
