Lynda Katz Wilner, M.S., CCC-SLP is a corporate communication trainer and a Speech and Language Pathologist.
She is the founder and director of Successfully Speaking, a woman-owned communication consulting firm, which specializes in professional speaking skills, foreign accent modification, and regional dialect reduction for native and non-native speakers. She works with individuals and groups.
Ms. Wilner developed and published Medically Speaking: Accent Modification for the Medical Profession, The Medically Speaking Inventory: Assessment of Accented Speech, and collaborated with Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker in the development of RULES, RULES To Go, RULES on the Run, Medically Speaking RULES, Medically Speaking Idioms, RULES BY THE SOUND, Boston RULES, and the Pronunciation Screening Tool for Healthcare. She trains individuals, groups, and trainers around the United States with her unique programs.

Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful summer. As we move into September, it's back to school, upcoming workshops and conferences, and more opportunities to expand ourselves professionally.
I keep finding articles on word power and I'd like to share some of the highlights.

Which Words Matter the Most?
|
I came across a fascinating article about words we should use to make a greater impact. Check it out Did you know that you should speak in 30 second sound bytes? Anything longer than that is too long for the listener to remember. The listener will either tune you out or remember something in the message that may not be the most important element. Try it at work! If you can convey your message in 30 seconds, you will choose your words wisely and be more succinct! What about POWER words? Which should you add to your vocabulary? Read this How often do you hear the word, "AWESOME?" Thanks to TED talks, here's an entertaining look at its overuse.
