Lynda Katz Wilner, M.S., CCC-SLP is a corporate communication trainer and a Speech and Language Pathologist.
She is the founder and director of Successfully Speaking, a woman-owned communication consulting firm, which specializes in professional speaking skills, foreign accent modification, and regional dialect reduction for native and non-native speakers.
Ms. Wilner developed and published Medically Speaking: Accent Modification for the Medical Profession, The Medically Speaking Inventory: Assessment of Accented Speech, and collaborated with Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker in the development of RULES, Medically Speaking RULES, Medically Speaking Idioms, and RULES BY THE SOUND. She trains individuals, groups, and trainers around the United States with her unique programs. |

As the leaves are now turning, summer is becoming a memory. Enjoy the Fall season!
I enjoyed seeing some of you at the 2010 MD SHRM State Conference this week. Although busy at the Successfully Speaking booth, I had a chance to sit in on, social scientist, Judy Tso's presentation on "Coaching Clients to Have Difficult Conversations in the Workplace." Among other things, she reinforced ideas that are so critical to communication. Whether in stressful situations or just when speaking with your employees, your non-verbal and vocal aspects of communication can either enhance or sabotage your verbal message. We must be careful to align our Visual (how we look), Vocal (how we sound), and Verbal (what we say) ways of communicating so we send clear and consistent information.
