Although sunny afternoons are still lingering here in the Pacific Northwest, we can feel the crispness of fall just around the corner.  There are other changes on the way, too, for A Sacred Moment - starting with the impending launch of our brand-new website! See below for more info, and for upcoming events.

Wishing you an envigorating autumn!

Our New Website!

We're overjoyed to share that our business is on the cusp of introducing a fully revamped website.  This update is long overdue, and we took full advantage of this opportunity to maximize efficiency and ease for you, the user!

Whether you're looking for information about our services or the concepts of home funerals/green burial in general, the new site will be jam-packed with helpful information and resources.  It will also be possible, going forward, to make arrangements for services completely online, whether at the time of need or in advance.  This will allow us to eliminate even more of the hassle and stress involved in dealing with the logistics of the death of a loved one, so that families can focus on what really matters at the time - grieving and spending quality time together, rather than getting bogged down in errands and paperwork.

If all goes as planned (fingers crossed!) we will be unveiling our redesigned site in mid-November.  We will send another email announcement when it's time to go check out the new and let us know what you think!
                                     WSHPCO Conference

On October 14 and 15, we will be traveling to beautiful Chelan, Washington, to attend the annual conference of the Washington State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (WSHPCO).  A Sacred Moment will be tabling at the event, with staff on hand to answer any questions about the work we do, and how closely it aligns with the philosophy and values of hospice care.  See the organization's website for more details.  We hope to see you there!
National Home Funeral Alliance Convention

One of the reasons we look so forward to fall around here is the yearly conference of the National Home Funeral Alliance, the nonprofit organization that Char, ASM owner, helped found.  This year, the conference (October 18-20) will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina.  There's room for you to attend! It's a wonderful opportunity to get more involved in the national home funeral community, and add your voice to the evolving conversation.  There will also be a home funeral guide training, if you haven't yet earned your certification and are interested in doing so.  Please see their website for more information.
Eastside Death Cafe

Have you heard about Death Cafes? The events popping up all over the world where people gather to actually talk about that most taboo of subjects - death and dying?

On Saturday, November 2 (El Dia de los Muertos!), our own Char Barrett will be facilitating the first meeting of the newest local Death Cafe meet-up group, on the east side of Lake Washington.  This gathering will be in Kirkland, at the Evergreen Hospice Facility.  For more information about the Death Cafe movement, event details, and to register, please follow this link.  We hope you will join us!
