Pacific Fruit Express Roundup
By Chris Palomarez
PFE 11207 from the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association
With the 87-1430 and 60-1430 1960-1978 Ice PFE Reefer decal set, and the series about PFE in Model Railroad Hobbyist by Tony Thompson, a listing of the existing sets is in order to present the modeling possibilities. It is important to note along with this month's 87-1430, sets 87-501, 87-1341, and 87-1357 are brand new research and artwork. These sets allow for modeling PFE from the 1950s to the 1978 split-up accurately.

Tony Thompson's blog is a great resource for more information beyond the series in Model Railroad Hobbyist. Tony does some great modeling how-to's as well and really is helpful for developing a PFE fleet of your own. http://modelingthesp.blogspot.com/search/label/PFE%20topic
Another resource is trainlife.com and their large archive of Railmodel Journal and Prototype Modeler. PFE Wood Reefers Part I, Pacific Fruit Express R-30-13, PFE Wood-Sheathed Steel End Reefers, PFE 40-Foot R-40-23 Reefers, and 57-Foot Mechanical Refrigerator Cars.
The Union Pacific also posted an abbreviated history of the PFE on their timeline. http://up150.com/timeline/pacific-fruit-express
