Genesee Wyoming Colors Head West

By Chris Palomarez

As 2013 came to pass, so did a new emergence of the Genesee Wyoming to purchase Rail America, and all of it's shortline railroad operations. Many are very excited about the prospect of the new owner into the Western Market. The Genesee Wyoming was predominant in the Mid West and East Coast prior to the Arizona Eastern acquisition. The purchase of Rail America in many cases means a renaissance for the shortlines the railroad now owns. Seven months into the new ownership, locomotives are already being repainted at a steady pace. The San Diego and Imperial Valley GenSet switcher below demonstrates the new scheme. The new decal sets 87-1426 and 60-1426 will allow the modeler to incorporate some of these smaller yet numerous railroads into their switching operation. The Genesee Wyoming colors are becoming a very common site through out the nation. Genesee Wyoming is also interested in seeking teaming several smaller railroads together and developing regional railroads as well. There is much more information on the Genesee Wyoming website. http://www.gwrr.com/ It seems like much more to come from the largest shortline in North America!  Genesee Wyoming Western Operators include: Arizona California, Arizona Eastern, San Diego Imperial Valley, Utah Railway, Ventura County, California Northern, Cascade & Columbia River, Central Oregon & Pacific, Portland & Western, Puget Sound Pacific, San Joaquin Valley, Willamette & Pacific
