VMV 3008 - A Dog's Lunch of a Locomotive
By J. Derick Perry
The leasing companies that have blossomed out of the modern era have generated some very unique locomotives. Most are a kludge to "Keep 'em runnin'" thereby keeping the locomotive generating revenue for the leasing company. J. Derick Perry modeled this exact method with his VMV 3008 using multiple decal sources to give the model the appearance of being pieced back together in a Frankenstein fashion. Mr. Perry used Burlington Northern set 87-25, Seaboard System 87-398, and Wisconsin Central 87-712 to recreate the prototype locomotive.
