Several generations of artists will share their works and love of visual art at a showcase called "Art and All That Jazz" at The Waters of Edina on Thursday, April 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.

MEET RYAN, SOUTH VIEW EIGHTH GRADER AND PASSIONATE VOLUNTEER
An alumnus of the WISE Guys program himself, Ryan decided to pursue working with "my favorite" program as a way to give back. In fact, giving back is one of the main reasons he volunteers in general. "Giving back to the community is important," Ryan said. "I think you owe the community something because they support you. This community has done a lot for me."

Multicultural Show spotlights EHS diversity, cultures to advance acceptance

In addition to enjoying cake, Edina High School students eat pierogies, listen to reggae, celebrate their quincea�eras, pray daily to Allah or speak fluent Hebrew. The EHS Multicultural Show on April 7 embraced this diversity by introducing different cultural perspectives to the student body through dance, clothes, song and poems. The show addressed racial tensions and the variety of cultures at Edina, and issues of multiculturalism and assimilation.

Tech Dump moves to South View
The Tech Dump closes at EHS today and moves to South View Middle School Friday, April 22 through Thursday, April 28. The Tech Dump accepts the following items for recycling at no cost: cellphones, PDAs, chargers, tablets, netbooks, memory and disk drives, cords, cables, mice and Christmas lights. Items must fit through a 3" x 12" slot in the locked Tech Dump bin. (If not on above list it is not accepted.) Materials dropped in the bin are responsibly recycled or refurbished and data-storing devices are sanitized of personal data. School Board Special Meeting April 25
Action items on the agenda for Monday's special meeting of the School Board include:
  • Purchase of synthetic turf for ECC and EHS
  • Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Edina for Countryside Elementary School sidewalk
  • Edina High School construction bids
A construction update discussion and other leadership updates will follow the action items.

April 23-24: Edina Public Library Used Book Sale
  • Saturday, April 23, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. thousands of adult and children's, hardcover and paperback books, CDs and DVDs -- most selling for $1
  • On Sunday, April 24, Noon - 5 p.m. buy all the books that fit into a grocery bag for $5
  • Anything that does not sell will be free to the public on Monday, April 25
April 28-30: EHS Thespians Present: Freckleface Strawberry, The Musical
This musical is based on the 2007 children's book written by Academy  Award winning actress Julianne Moore. Inspired by her life, it is the story of a red-headed little girl with a face covered with freckles -- gasp!
