Our Work and Witness Team has completed their work in Tacloban City, Philippines, but they have been delayed by a small typhoon that went through the northern part of the country.

     They are flying in to Manila today (Thursday) and they will not be able to fly out until Saturday. The team will arrive at LAX at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday.  

     Please pray that they will be able to get rest and travel safely. The team includes (l to r): Travis Sapp, Samantha Ramirez, Matt Wood, Terra Baird, and Dan Ireland.


      This week, our "Cultivating Character" summer series continues with a message entitled, "Learning The Secrets of Contentment."  The key scripture comes from Philippians 4:12 (NIV) where Paul says...
   
     "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want."

     Notice his phrase, "I have learned the secret of being content." Contentment is something that you learn and relearn. It is not a personality trait that only a few have, but a learned character trait for all of us.

     God wants to teach us contentment. So, how do you think He's going to teach us? Do you think He will teach us contentment by giving us everything we want... when we want it? No!    

     Paul says here that God teaches us contentment by the ups and downs of life. Some lessons are best learned from personal experience. This is true with the character trait of contentment.

     Join us on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. as we look at five of the secrets that the Bible gives for learning contentment. We will be celebrating communion in both services.

     Our patio is now in use and we are enjoying the new space. I hope you will enjoy hanging out a bit before and after each service.  It's a great way to build relationships with each other!

     Because the south steps are still under construction, we request that everyone enter the patio from the north. Each day moves us closer to completion.

     We deeply appreciate the seven years of faithful service that Wendy Mulvey has given as our office secretary. She is leaving in order to spend more time with her family.
