Members and leaders in the presbytery have been discussing for several years how to best assist churches that are in transition as well as how to improve presbytery connections with congregations. Upon recommendation of the Council, the Personnel Committee has hired a part-time consultant for the presbytery, Kim Trimboli, a teaching elder, to fill that role. Kim's contract with the presbytery is for a six-month period.
As our consultant, Kim has been tasked with the responsibility to build trust and problem-solving partnerships between the presbytery and its member congregations. Some of the goals of the position are to assist congregations in crisis or who are desiring assistance in achieving greater vitality in ministry and mission, to work with congregations to be more intentional about their futures and to assist the presbytery in more effectively utilizing its resources to empower and nurture its congregations.
The first steps in this role have involved Kim's beginning to get to know the presbytery structure and observe its functionality, to get to know the staff, and to begin to connect with some of the existing groups within the presbytery. Beginning in mid-July, she will be meeting more regularly with pastors and groups from a variety of churches. Congregations which have an interest in utilizing some of Kim's assistance in making some intentional steps towards planning for the future are encouraged to call or email her and set up a meeting time. Kim can be reached at the presbytery office, 513-221-4850 extension 108, or at kimtsdm@gmail.com.
In addition to her role here, Kim is currently serving as an interim pastor for Westminster Presbyterian Church in southwest Columbus. Kim served the church as an educator for over twenty years before being ordained as a teaching elder. She has a deep interest and passion for church transitions and growth, conflict transformation, systems theory, issues of privilege and power, and faith education.
We welcome Kim to the staff of the presbytery and look forward to her ministry among us. |
